Description

Delightful and buttery pastries with flaky layers, perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Instant Yeast
  • 1.5 cups Milk
  • 0.5 cup Warm Water
  • 1 large Egg

Instructions

  1. Combine the Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast until evenly incorporated.
  2. Add Wet Ingredients: Gradually mix in the milk and warm water until the dough begins to come together.
  3. Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes.
  4. First Rise: Shape the dough into a ball, place it in a greased bowl, cover it, and allow it to rise for 1 to 1.5 hours.
  5. Prepare the Butter: Pound the butter between sheets of parchment paper into a flat rectangle and chill.
  6. Incorporate the Butter: Roll out the dough and place the cold butter in the center, folding the dough over it.
  7. Laminating the Dough: Roll the dough into a long rectangle, then fold it into thirds and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  8. Repeat the Process: Roll out the dough again and repeat the folding process two more times.
  9. Shape the Croissants: Roll out the dough, cut it into triangles, and shape each triangle into a croissant.
  10. Final Rise: Place the shaped croissants on a baking sheet, cover, and let them rise for another hour.
  11. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) about 15 minutes before baking.
  12. Bake: Brush the croissants with the beaten egg and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  13. Cool and Enjoy: Allow to cool slightly before indulging in your freshly baked croissants.

Notes

Use cold butter for flaky layers and allow sufficient resting time for the best results.
