Description

A delightful fusion of grilled cheese and pizza that combines gooey cheese, savory marinara, and crispy bread.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices of bread (sourdough, white, or whole wheat)
  • 2 tbsp butter (softened)
  • 1/2 cup marinara or pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 12 slices of turkey pepperoni (or your preferred topping)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh basil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  2. Sprinkle the buttered side with garlic powder and Italian seasoning.
  3. Place two slices of bread buttered side down and spread marinara sauce on the inside of each slice.
  4. Layer with mozzarella, Parmesan, turkey pepperoni, and any additional toppings.
  5. Top with remaining bread slices, buttered side up.
  6. Heat a skillet over medium-low heat and cook the sandwiches for 3-4 minutes per side until golden and cheese is melted.
  7. Let cool slightly, slice in half, and garnish with fresh basil if desired. Serve with more marinara for dipping.

Notes

Use a non-stick skillet for best results. Customizable with different cheeses and toppings.
