- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine peanut butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and light tan in color.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Melt chocolate chips in a microwave or double boiler and let cool slightly.
- Divide the dough into two portions. Leave one portion plain and mix cocoa powder and melted chocolate into the second.
- Drop tablespoons of each dough onto the baking sheet and swirl them together with a toothpick.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are set and centers are slightly soft.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For added flavor, sprinkle a little sea salt on top before baking. Can substitute peanut butter with other nut butters for a unique twist.
