Description
A classic holiday dish featuring tender green beans in a creamy mushroom sauce, topped with crispy fried onions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups of green beans
- 1 can of condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 1 tsp of soy sauce
- 1/4 tsp of ground black pepper
- 1 1/3 cups of crispy fried onions
Instructions
- If using frozen green beans, ensure they are thawed and drained. For fresh green beans, trim and cut into 2-inch pieces, briefly blanch in salted boiling water.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C), or prepare your air fryer for the same temperature.
- Measure out the fried onions, dividing into two portions: 2/3 cup for mixing and 1/3 cup for topping.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the condensed cream of mushroom soup, milk, and soy sauce until smooth.
- Add the drained green beans, 2/3 cup of fried onions, and ground black pepper to the mixture, and gently fold together until evenly coated.
- Pour the mixture into a 9×9-inch baking dish, spreading evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes (10 minutes in the air fryer).
- After 25 minutes, stir the casserole gently, then top with the reserved 1/3 cup of fried onions.
- Return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes (or 2 minutes in the air fryer) until onions are golden and casserole is bubbling.
