Description

A delightful treat with a rich, buttery flavor and satisfying crunch, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter
  • 2 cups Granulated Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Chopped Nuts (Optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace by gathering all ingredients and tools, including a heavy-bottomed saucepan and a candy thermometer.
  2. In the saucepan, mix the unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and water over medium heat. Stir continuously until well combined and melted.
  3. Once combined, increase heat to medium-high, stirring occasionally to avoid burning.
  4. Using a candy thermometer, monitor the mixture, aiming for 300°F to 310°F (hard crack stage).
  5. When the desired temperature is reached, remove from heat and stir in the salt.
  6. If using chopped nuts, fold them in quickly at this stage.
  7. Line a baking dish with parchment paper and pour the hot toffee mixture onto it, spreading evenly.
  8. Allow the toffee to cool at room temperature for at least one hour until set.
  9. Once cool, break the toffee into pieces and store in an airtight container.

Notes

Use a candy thermometer for precision. Experiment with different nuts and flavors for variations.
