Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Fresh Mint Leaves, packed and finely chopped
  • 1/41/2 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon Juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1 pinch Ground Cinnamon (Optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients: Wash, peel, core, and chop the apples into small cubes. Rinse and finely chop the mint leaves.
  2. Combine in a saucepan: In a large saucepan, combine the chopped apples, water, and lemon juice.
  3. Cook the apples: Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring it to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally.
  4. Test the texture: After about 10 minutes, check the apples; they should be tender enough to mash easily.
  5. Mash the apples: Remove from heat and mash the apples to your desired consistency.
  6. Add sugar and mint: Return to low heat, add sugar and chopped mint, stirring well.
  7. Simmer with cinnamon: If using, sprinkle in cinnamon and let simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  8. Cool and jar: Let the sauce cool slightly before ladling into sterilized jars, sealing tightly, and refrigerating.
