A delightful casserole combining buttery croissants with creamy custard and juicy mixed berries, perfect for family gatherings or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 large croissants, sliced into 1-inch cubes
  • 4 cups mixed berries (raspberries, blackberries, blueberries)
  • 14 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 eggs, at room temperature
  • 2 cups half and half
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons lemon zest
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 ounces cream cheese, softened (for glaze)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice (for glaze)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. Spread the cubed croissants on a baking sheet and bake for 7-10 minutes until golden. Let cool.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat together softened cream cheese and granulated sugar until smooth.
  4. Add eggs, half and half, lemon juice, lemon zest, vanilla extract, and salt, mixing until smooth.
  5. In a greased 9×13 baking dish, layer half of the croissant cubes, half of the mixed berries, and pour half of the custard mixture over it.
  6. Repeat the layering with remaining croissant cubes, custard, and berries.
  7. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  8. Let sit at room temperature while preheating oven to 350°F.
  9. Bake covered with foil for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  10. For the glaze, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla until smooth.
  11. Drizzle glaze over baked casserole before serving warm.

Notes

For a richer flavor, substitute brioche for croissants. Allow to rest for 10 minutes before slicing for easier portioning.
